Frequently Asked Question #71:
Q: Why are people selling their vineyards?
A: The rural properties that appeal so much to our clients tend to be unattractive to the younger generation of Italians, who escape to the big city whenever possible. When they buy second homes, wealthy Italians much prefer an apartment by the sea, or in a ski resort - the rustic charms of country life completely elude them.
Which means that when an incumbent vineyard owner dies, it is very often the case that none of the beneficiaries within the family wants to take over - therefore the property is offered for sale.
