"Vecchio Podere Santa Cristiana" - Castelnuovo Belbo, Italy

Vecchio Podere Santa Cristiana is situated about 1.5 miles from the small village of Castelnuovo Belbo, on a hilltop 219 metres (689 feet) above sea level. Situated in one of the major wine growing areas of Italy, Vecchio Podere Santa Cristiana is a working vineyard with nearly 10.5 acres dedicated to Barbera and Moscato grapes. Our commanding position provides views over rolling hills covered in fertile vineyards. Dotted in between the vineyards are fruit orchards and woods. This natural habitat attracts wildlife and it is home to deer, pine martens, pheasants, and the occasional boar. On clear days the vista also rewards viewers with a stunning panorama of the Alps including the famous peaks of Mt. Rosa, Mt Bianco (Mt Blanc), the Matterhorn and Monviso. It's a picture postcard scene that rarely disappoints. Vecchio Podere Santa Cristiana's secluded location adds to the sense of peace and tranquillity that our guests find so appealing. Clever design has insured that the vineyard and farmhouse have been built to benefit from the natural hill contours that beautifully camouflage us from the rest of the world; you will not spot us unless you know where to look.

Yet we are not miles from civilisation; it just feels as if we are. Travelling around is easy, with airports, train stations and major motorway links close by. Large towns and cities such as Asti, Genoa, Acqui Terme and Alessandria are all an easy drive away, and we are only 10 minutes from the historic town of Nizza Monferrato. Turin is about an hour away, and Milan can be reached in 90 minutes: but if you prefer to avoid driving in Italy's major cities, both are easily reachable by train. Head south for 30 miles and you reach the stunning Ligurian coastline of the Italian Riviera. Alternatively, go west to enjoy the splendour of the mountains; our nearest ski resort is a 90 minute drive.

The farmhouse offers the following accommodation:

• Apartments #1 and #2

  Each apartment has a spacious double bedroom with double bed and a modern bathroom with shower. They have a comfortable lounge kitchenette combination with cooking facilities and a bed sofa. We can provide barbeque facilities by special request. The Moscato apartment is at the first floor level, and the Barbera apartment is on the ground floor - with good wheelchair access. Towels and bed linen are provided, and are changed once a week for guests booked at the self-catering rate. Additional cleaning and laundry services can be provided by special request, we are happy to discuss any specific requirements that you might have.

• 3 En-suite Double Rooms

  Three Double Rooms are available - one with twin beds and en-suite bathroom, another with a double bed and en-suite bathroom, the third with both a double and a single bed plus an en-suite bathroom. All are furnished to a high standard, with showers and hairdryers. They have satellite TV with DVD players, and broadband internet connections can be provided on request. Breakfast is included: it is served either outside on the terrace or in the dining area, and we can provide room service by special request. Our bed and breakfast guests also enjoy the benefits of an impressive guest lounge complete with a large open fireplace. Guests are invited to enjoy a movie from our vast collection of DVDs, read a book or just sit and enjoy the peace of the place.

  Our prices are quoted on a per room per night basis, with a maximum occupancy of two people per room, or three for the double room with single bed. If any other combination of occupancy is required for families, please ask.

All our guests can enjoy our modern, sunny swimming pool and the tranquillity and peace of our vineyards and private gardens, including the furnished portico area that's a great place to have that long cool drink as you watch the sunset.
